The research focus of the department is oriented in several directions. The department's staff is engaged in didactic and methodological research related to school history (the development of the subject and our education, the status and current problems of history, stereotypes in history teaching, media education, field and excursion teaching, etc.). Research attention is also focused on the subject of regional history. The department's staff also deals with topics according to their specialization (archaeology and Slavic fortifications, cultural history, history of religious orders, Czech pilgrimage in the European context, history of sport, history of Lusatian Serbs and Central Eastern Europe, history of modern Turkey, etc.).
